River Parrett – Stoke vs Ilminster – 25th August 2024

On Sunday, it was that time again when the two piscatorial giants, Ilminster AA and Stoke AC, go head to head in the first leg of the battle for the Isle & Parrett Challenge Shield. It was at Kingsbury again and I must admit it’s a stretch I really struggle to get to grips with so I was hoping to get a

Summerhayes – Silvers Open – 24th August 2024

For the start of a busy Bank Holiday weekend I headed to Summerhayes for the silvers open on Sellicks although there were only six of us fishing so more of a knock up really. After a stop off at Greggs for breakfast, I arrived in good time and Pete said it would be draw and choose, I was last but one to

River Parrett – Novice Shield – 18th August 2024

On Sunday we were back on the Parrett for the Novice Shield which is also the culmination of the six match series for the Memorial Shield. Going into this one, Hainsey was leading with 45 points, I was a point behind and Dave Pope was in third spot with 40 points. Your best five results count and both Chris and me had

Todber Manor – Silvers Open – 17th August 2024

I haven’t been to Todber for a few weeks so was looking forward to this one although looking at the recent results, it’s been fishing quite hard with around 16lb winning and low double figures enough to frame. John announced the draw and I employed my usual tactic of hanging back hoping to avoid peg 63 but with only two pegs left

Revels Fishery – 11th August 2024

For the next Stoke match we were at Revels with the sixteen anglers spread over Main and Dead Tree lakes. I was hoping to be on the latter after it fished well the last time I was here on a Tuesday and got my wish when I pulled out 46. I’ve drawn it a couple of times in the past and done

Richard Chave Interview

Hi Rich, thank you so much for agreeing to do this interview; Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and how you first got into fishing and the first fish you caught? I’ve been fishing since I was about 4 or 5, I lived with my mum and every year we used to go on holiday in Devon with relatives

Acorn Fishery – Open – 10th August 2024

On Saturday we headed up the M5 for another of Chris Fox’s opens at Acorn, we had breakfast in the Bridge Inn which was really good and then got to the venue with plenty of time to spare. Chris announced the draw and I went into the bag quite early this week and pulled out number 24 by the new concrete bridge

River Parrett – Axminster Cup – 4th August 2024

On Sunday we were back at Parrett Works and after a lovely breakfast at The Ranch (thanks Kirsty), it was soon time for the draw. Once again, I managed to avoid the pegs on my wish list when I pulled out number 2 which was in for the first time this season. I set up a couple of rigs, a 1 gram

Summerhayes – Memorial Match – 3rd August 2024

Every year there’s a memorial match held at Summerhayes to remember some of the anglers we’ve sadly lost including Clive Cunningham, Charlie Barnes, Ray Wickham, John Proctor, Jeff Sparkes and Roger Russell who only passed away recently. It’s silvers only and always well attended and today there were 20 anglers on Sellicks including Zooner who presented me with a dinosaur baseball cap

Revels Fishery – Open – 30th July 2024

Another Tuesday trip to Revels and Parker ‘The Pole’ was back for this one, when we arrived the car park was already starting to fill up. Always popular, there were 21 fishing this week and we were on Main and Dead Tree lakes. The draw got underway and it was a nice feeling knowing I couldn’t end up on Trendles although I’d
