It was Stoke AA’s presentation evening at the working man’s club and after a lovely day at Acorn it was all a bit of a rush as it was starting at 8 ‘o’ clock and with the match finishing at five, by the time we’d packed up and weighed in etc, I didn’t get home until 7:30. Headless chicken springs to mind and I eventually got there only twenty minutes late, big thanks to Norts for delaying things until I got there.
Chairman Chris got proceedings underway with a nice speech thanking the club members for all their hard work running the matches and swim clearing along with charity fundraising for Yeovil Hospital Oncology Unit (£4000) and the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance (£571.15), well done everyone! Then it was on to the trophy presentations with Vice Chairman Harry Hebditch handing out the silverware.

Dave Pope was the Club Champion and also won the Novice Shield, Newton Cup, Aggregate Shield and Lakes Pairs Cup (with Chris Haines)

Chris Haines won the Memorial Shield, Evening Cup, J Irish Trophy and River Pairs Cup (with Dave Ball)

Chris White won the Huntsman Cup

Terry Morgan was the winner of the Goodman’s Golden Oldies and the Committee Cup

I won the Axminster Cup and Silvers Bowl

Mike Goad won the Winter League
Other trophy winners who couldn’t make it were,
Rose Bowl – John Dursley
Carp Shield – Nick Veale
Presidents Trophy – Nick Payne
Mrs Williams Cup – Nick Payne
A Gardner Match Specimen Shield – Rob Wylde
Simm’s Silvers – Nick Veale
Pairs Cup River – Dave Nash/Paul Smith (tied with Chris Haines/Dave Ball)
Teams of three – Steve Chant, Nick Chedzoy and Dave White
After all the trophies were presented, we all enjoyed a fantastic buffet laid on by the club, another great evening with Stoke AA.
