Stoke AA Presentation Evening – 12th April 2025

It was Stoke AA’s presentation evening at the working man’s club and after a lovely day at Acorn it was all a bit of a rush as it was starting at 8 ‘o’ clock and with the match finishing at five, by the time we’d packed up and weighed in etc, I didn’t get home until 7:30. Headless chicken springs to mind

Acorn Fishery – Open – 12th April 2025

When the clocks go forward, Foxy changes the format of his matches slightly, the draw time is a bit later and he pays the top five (no sections) along with one in the silvers (and you can pick up in both). 27 anglers fishing today and as per usual when it was time to draw I was hoping to pull out 38

Summerhayes – Open – 6th April 2025

I woke up still feeling a tad sore from the previous days double next peg spanking (where’s the Torquay Tart and his tube of Savlon when you need him?) and was hoping for better things today. 20 anglers booked in, so another good turnout, Pete announced the draw starting with the golden peg which was 25, not one I’d fancy. I was

Todber Manor – Silvers Open – 5th April 2025

After doing well in my last two matches fishing the maggot feeder at Todber, I was looking forward to having another go on Saturday. When draw time arrived, I waited until there were only a couple of tickets left as it’s been working so well although I felt sure it had to bite me on the bum at some point! Adrian Dew

Todber Manor – Silvers Open – 2nd April 2025

The next day it was down to Todber for the Wednesday silvers match on Ash, ten of us fishing today and after another cracking brekkie I employed my usual tactic of having one of the last tickets. Peg 72 for me with Nigel Bartlett on my left and an empty peg to my right with Sean Rhodes on 74. Although It was

Acorn Fishery – Costcutter – 1st April 2025

With some leave to use up, I had a week off work and booked into a couple of matches starting with a costcutter at Acorn, the weather was supposed to be nice but it was really windy and cold first thing! 23 anglers fishing today and when it was my turn to draw I pulled out 16 on the far side, an

Revels Fishery – Charity Match – 30th March 2025

On Sunday it was down to Revels for a Stoke AA charity match although there was a disappointing turn out of only 9 anglers (possibly down to a combination of Mother’s Day and people on holiday). Fair play to Norts who was originally booked in and had to pull out but still turned up to do the draw and paid the pools/entry

Acorn Fishery – Open – 29th March 2025

On Saturday it was Foxy’s latest match at Acorn with the usual full house of 28 anglers, draw time arrived and I was happy enough with peg 25 by the new-ish concrete bridge on the far side as its been producing some decent silvers weights. I set up a couple of Preston Innovations F1 Maggots to fish two lines at 11.5 metres

Summerhayes – Open – 23rd March 2025

After a lovely day and lots of bites on Saturday I was hoping for more of the same the following day on Longs at Summerhayes. A great turnout of 25 anglers and it was fantastic to see Zooner who was back after a recent op and we were also joined by Russ Hamilton (Hilton) who had enjoyed his first visit fishing Sellicks

Todber Manor – Silvers Open – 22nd March 2025

Finally it was looking like we might have some decent weather at the weekend and I was really looking forward to fishing Todber again although I’m having a bit of a lean spell at the moment and I had a horrible feeling I was due a draw at the near end. After a NPB (Next Peg Battering) of epic proportions last Saturday
