Chard Reservoir – 15th November 2020
Due to the second lockdown and matches off the agenda once again (hopefully only for a month), I wasn’t going to bother going out but with my poor old dad in various hospitals for over six weeks and me being on my own plus working from home, I was starting to go seriously stir crazy. I have to say a massive heartfelt thanks …
My Top Ten Match Wins
I haven’t done a ‘Hit Parade’ for a while and as I seem to be having a bad run at the moment I thought I’d list some of the matches when I actually caught some fish! I’ve been fishing competitions for 34 years and during that time I’ve experienced plenty of highs and lows and that’s what makes it so addictive. For weeks …
It’s a funny old game – My Top Ten Posts
Match fishing, it’s a funny old game and that’s why I love it so much. You never know what’s going to happen and I think that’s what keeps us going week after week. You can be the best angler in the world but if the fish aren’t in your peg or they’re not feeding, World Champions can blank like the rest of …
Chard Reservoir – Slab Hunting – 30th March 2012
Next up on my ‘Mission Impossible’ hit list was bream and possibly roach so I headed to the resi where I fancied I’d latch into a few, especially after Russell Hilton’s great session recently. Janders very kindly agreed to come down with me so I could borrow his trolley and we could head to the prolific pegs in the forties. Well, best …
Chard Reservoir – 18th March 2012
I was standing in for someone on the winter league today and was looking forward to seeing the tip get pulled round a few times (famous last words!). It was good to see all the Chard crew for the first time for ages. After paying my pools and sorting out some bait it was time to draw. Les said that Bushy was …
Chard Reservoir – 2nd January 2012
STOP PRESS (Again!) Despite me saying I wouldn’t be fishing again until the 8th Jan, Les phoned me about a knock up down the resi and I thought I’d give it a bash. I was up early and the first to arrive in the car park, Bob Hammond soon turned up followed by Janders and then the rest who had been for …
Two Day Charity Match on Chard Reservoir
Chard held the two day match on the resi on Sunday and Monday and this year over £200 was raised for cancer charity which is fantastic. Also fantastic was the fishing and on the Sunday Paul Blake demolished the match record with over 230lb of bream, an amazing weight. Paul had nearly 50lb on the second day to finish second over the …
Chard Reservoir – 21st March 2010
After dusting my feeder rod and reel off, I headed for the resi, hoping some slabs might show. At the draw there was a decent turnout of 17 anglers and lots of faces I hadn’t seen for ages including Steve Bishop, Terry ‘Niblett’ Green and Dave Abrams. There was some ripple on the resi and some colour after loads of rain the …
Chard Reservoir – 4th October 2009
The weather had been quite rough on Saturday and with mild winds were forecast for Sunday and I was hoping the bream would feed with a vengeance, I just needed a decent draw now! All the usual suspects were at the draw and as Baz Morgan would say ‘If the devil could cast his net now!’ I really wanted to pull out …
Chris Patten Memorial – Chard Reservoir – 27th September 2009
Once again I was privileged enough to receive an invite to this popular event and was quite looking forward to it as the resi is fishing really well at the moment. I got to the carpark fairly early and it was already nearly full! Les had driven back from his holiday especially for the event and was already in full organisational mode! …
