Dillington – IAA Summer League 4 – 2nd July 2023

For round four, it was back to Dillington for me, the dominant pegs up to now have been 1, 2 and 23 but the pond is in the process of having a severe hair cut with the majority of the trees being removed so how this would affect the fishing would remain to be seen. The bush between pegs 1 and 2

Dillington – IAA Summer League 2 – 28th May 2023

For round two of the IAA Summer League, it was our turn at Dillington. Everybody met at the bowling club for breakfast but we would do our draw at the pond due to a couple of factors. There was loads of that white willow fluff that is the bane of anglers lives at this time of year plus the Shindig festival was

Dillington Pond – IAA Winter League 5 – 12th March 2023

On Sunday it was back to Dillington for the final round of the winter league and it was forecast to be a few degrees warmer than the previous day so hopefully it would fish well. We met at the bowling club for breakfast and then it was time for the draw. There were fifteen anglers originally booked in for this one but

Dillington Pond – IAA Winter League 4 – 26th February 2023

With the river fishing really patchily, the decision was made to move the remaining two rounds to Dillington where we should all get some bites. Although saying that, waking up to another frost wouldn’t do us any favours! We met at the bowling club for breakfast (excellent as ever) and then it was time for the all important draw with most people

Dillington Pond – IAA Winter League 2 – 15th January 2023

With the river flooded, we were at Dillington Pond for round two of the winter league where hopefully we should all get a few bites. Breakfast at the bowling club was lovely as always and we were well looked after by Drew and Charlotte. When it came to draw time, Rob entrusted the ‘Wheels of Doom’ to me and when my name

Dillington Pond – Bob Hammond Memorial Match – 9th October 2022

Bob’s Match is another of my favourites and one I’d love to win, being rod only, it’s really nice to do something a bit different as well. As we haven’t fished it for ages, I have to say a massive thanks to Max, Leighton and Rob who have been out the pond making sure there were enough swims available. I met Nick

River Isle – Barney’s Pairs Open – 6th March 2022

Barney’s Pairs is a match I’m always keen to do well in, we’ve fished it on various venue combinations over the years, the last time in 2020 (we didn’t fish it last year due to Covid) it was on Hebditch’s and Dillington. This year Rob put us on the Isle and Dillington and with the river fishing quite patchily, my partner, Terry

Dillington Pond – Pete Lonton Pairs – 19th December 2021

In memory of Pete, who sadly passed away this year, the club decided to hold a pairs match in his memory. It would be split between the Isle and the pond and I was fishing with Terry ‘The Toast’ once again. Given my recent form on the river (blank, blank and 5oz), it was decided I would be better off at Dillington!

Dillington Pond – Bob Hammond Memorial Match – 19th September 2021

I always look forward to Bob’s match, to remember a lovely guy and as it’s rod only, it’s nice to do something a little different and of course we raise some money for a worthwhile cause. There was a great turnout once again, although last years winner, Baz, couldn’t defend his title as he was still out of action with his bad

Dillington Pond – Enterprise Angling Summer League 9 – 12th September 2021

Before I get on to this weeks report, I had the awful news yesterday that my very good friend John ‘Janders’ Anderson had passed away. He’d been poorly for a few years and his wife phoned me around a month ago to say he’d taken a turn for the worse. I first met him in the early 90’s when I began fishing
