Summerhayes – Open – 18th February 2024

The following day we were back at Summerhayes with the match on Longs again and another great turnout of 24 (including Karl Aplin who I haven’t seen for ages). I was third on the list this week and delved into the bucket hoping to pull out pegs 12, 13 or 19 and came close with number 11 which I was fairly happy

Summerhayes – Open – 11th February 2024

After Toby ‘The Pellet Pro’ Burrell’s dominance at Summerhayes over the last few weeks, there would be some micros and expanders on my side tray today (and a few others as well, I’m sure!). Parker ‘The Pole’, Nick and me met for another of Charlotte’s lovely breakfasts before heading to Bridgwater. 26 anglers booked in for this one I have to say

Summerhayes – Open – 4th February 2024

After yesterday, I was hoping for better things on Longs today but first a cracking breakfast at the bowling club set us up for the day ahead. A decent turnout as always with 21 fishing today and after a coffee it was time for the draw, I was top of the list so first in the bucket and hoping to pull out

Summerhayes – Open – 28th January 2024

On Sunday it was back to Summerhayes with the match on Longs this week. Although it had been a few degrees warmer overnight, I still thought it might be quite tricky today with around 8lb a good silvers weight. Another decent turnout of 18 anglers and the bonus ball was peg 11 today, when it was my turn, I pulled out 32

Summerhayes – Open – 7th January 2024

We were back at Summerhayes on the Sunday but it was Longs this time and I must admit I wasn’t particularly looking forward to it as it’s been the tougher of the two lakes recently with 5-6lb winning the silvers. After Sellicks fished hard the previous day, I thought 4lb would be a good weight, especially with 23 anglers fishing and another

Summerhayes – Open – 10th December 2023

It was supposed to be Stoke’s Xmas Fayre on Sunday but due to floods everywhere they had to cancel (it will now be held in January) so I phoned and booked us into Summerhayes. After a cracking brekkie at the bowling club we arrived to find the car park rammed with a club match on Sellicks and 25 booked into the open

Summerhayes – Champion of Champions Silvers Final – 18th November 2023

On Saturday it was Champion of Champions Silvers Final at Summerhayes, they’re great matches with some serious money to be won. Basically throughout the year, a pound from the entry fee of each match goes into the pot and if you win one or the silvers you qualify for the respective final and with pools on the day as well, the pay

Summerhayes – Memorial Match – 11th November 2023

We were at Summerhayes on Saturday for a memorial match to remember Charlie Barnes, Clive Cunningham and Ray Wickham. Jeff welcomed the 22 anglers and said the payout would be for the overall winner and then four sections. I haven’t been for a while but apparently the pegs towards the top end of the track (the mid thirties) have been winning the

Summerhayes – Open – 1st October 2023

Sunday it was back to Summerhayes but on Longs this time, Nick and me had a lovely brekkie at the bowling club (thanks Charlotte) which set us up for the day (unlike yesterdays effort!). 17 fishing and the golden peg today was number 26, I got called up to draw and only pulled out the bonus ball again! It’s towards the bottom

Summerhayes – 30th July 2023

For the next Stoke match we were at Summerhayes on Longs which has been fishing quite hard for silvers of late. Quite a few of us met for breakfast including Roy Worth and Chanter so the banter was top notch and it’s always a lovely way to start the day! Then on to the fishery which was busy with a match on
