Summerhayes – Open – 19th February 2023

Sunday kicked off with another lush bowling club brekkie thanks to Charlotte and we were joined by the Grand Wiz and Burnsey who were off to Trinity for the open. With our bellies full, we headed to Summerhayes and when we arrived, the car park was already busy with 21 anglers booked in. Pete announced the draw starting with the golden peg

Summerhayes – Open – 12th February 2023

After a serious case of deja vu at Revels yesterday when I drew peg 46 for the second time and had virtually the same number of fish for exactly the same weight as last time, I was hoping for a similar experience on Sellicks today where hopefully I’d draw peg 20 again! Another cracking breakfast courtesy of Charlotte at the bowling club

Summerhayes – Open – 5th February 2023

Sunday were back at Summerhayes and I was really looking forward to fishing Sellicks again as it’s been a while. Before that we assembled at the bowling club for breakfast and I know I say it every time but it was superb once again (thanks Charlotte). We were joined by Chanter and the Grand Wiz who donated a pound to the Nugget-O-Meter

Summerhayes – Open – 8th January 2023

The forecast was pretty grim again for the weekend and I think everybody is fed up with it now, we met at the bowling club for breakfast where Drew looked after us and the food and banter was top notch. Then we headed to the fishery and there was a decent turnout of 17 considering the weather and the fact there were

Summerhayes – Open – 2nd January 2023

After a couple of bad results to round off 2022, I was hoping for better things in my last match of the festive period and the first of the New Year. Summerhayes was the destination and once again Nick sorted us out with breakfast and we all bunged a fiver in the charity pot. I was hoping we’d be on Sellicks but

Summerhayes – Boxing Day Open – 26th December 2022

I always try and fit a few matches in over the Xmas period so Summerhayes was my next destination. Nick very kindly supplied breakfast again so some more money went into the charity pot. Les B said he fancied fishing Summerhayes for the first time so met us in the car park and followed us there. I didn’t think there’d be loads

Summerhayes – Open – 18th December 2022

Well, this won’t take long! The big freeze hit us with matches being cancelled all over the place due to thick ice and I feared the worst when Pete phoned to say that Sellicks was frozen over but he said we could still fish if we wanted to break the ice. I met Steve P at the bowling club for probably the

Summerhayes – Xmas Match – 11th December 2022

I was booked into Stoke’s Xmas Fayre on Sunday which was being held on two ponds and a stretch of river but then the cold snap hit us and with the stillwaters frozen over, the decision was made to cancel/postpone. The club made the call early which was the right thing to do so people can arrange or try to find something

Summerhayes – Open – 27th November 2022

Before I get on to this weeks match, we had Ruthie’s Cup presentation last night and as promised I’ve updated the results and added some photos to the post from the last match which can be found here – Ruthie’s Cup We had heavy rain and strong winds all day on Saturday but thankfully the forecast was much better for today. Summerhayes – Champion of Champions Silvers Final – 19th November 2022

Another of those matches I would dearly love to win but to date, fifth is my best result from the first time I qualified in 2017. Waking up to a hard frost was a bit of a rude awakening and the drop in temperature wouldn’t be doing us any favours today. I met Zooner for breakfast in the truck stop (when I
