Summerhayes – Champion of Champions Silvers Final – 19th November 2022

Another of those matches I would dearly love to win but to date, fifth is my best result from the first time I qualified in 2017. Waking up to a hard frost was a bit of a rude awakening and the drop in temperature wouldn’t be doing us any favours today. I met Zooner for breakfast in the truck stop (when I

Summerhayes – Open – 13th November 2022

It was back to Summerhayes on Sunday with the match on Sellicks this time. We had a cracking breakfast at the bowling club again (thanks Charlotte) before heading to Bridgwater. Twelve anglers fishing today which is a good number for Sellicks. Nick gave Pete a hand to do the draw and first up was the golden peg which was number 9. I

Summerhayes – Charlie Barnes Memorial Match – 12th November 2022

One of my favourite matches of the year and one I managed to win for the first time last year so I would be trying my hardest to defend my title. The final IAA Summer League match at Coombe was also rescheduled for the same day which was a bit gutting as I was in with a good chance of a top

Summerhayes – Open – 30th October 2022

With the match on the Isle called off, we booked into the open at Summerhayes. 21 anglers were fishing this one so a decent size match. While we waited for the draw, Parker ‘The Pole’ modelled his posh new set of waterproofs. As always, Pete pulled out the golden ball first and this week it was number 30, a good area. I

Summerhayes – Open – 16th October 2022

It was supposed to be Ilminster v Stoke on the Isle but with it being painfully low and weedy, it was called off so a few of us booked into Summerhayes. Drew at the bowling club very kindly said we could have breakfast there at 6:45 but my day didn’t get off to the best of starts when I turned my 5:45

Summerhayes – Open – 19th September 2022

With a Bank Holiday on the Monday, there was a silvers only match on Longs, I booked in and Nick and Jenny said they fancied it as well and very kindly did some bacon and egg rolls for breakfast. They wouldn’t accept any payment so we all bunged a fiver in the charity pot. With 12 anglers fishing, we had plenty of

Summerhayes – Open – 29th August 2022

After a disappointing Bank Holiday weekend so far, I was hoping for better things today. The Breakfast Club assembled at Nicks for food which was lovely and as he wouldn’t accept any payment, the Nugget-O-Meter benefited by £10. On arriving at the fishery, I was a little surprised to see only ten booked in but I think there were several festivals on

Summerhayes – Open – 27th August 2022

A nice long Bank Holiday weekend can only mean one thing…. lots of fishing! First up was a Saturday match on Sellicks at Summerhayes. I met Nick P and Steve ‘The Pole’ at the bowling club for breakfast (thanks Drew) before heading to Bridgwater. There were nine booked in for this one which was slightly disappointing and then two of those didn’t

Summerhayes – Open – 14th August 2022

It was back to Summerhayes on Sunday with another great turnout of 28 anglers, Pete got the draw underway starting with the golden peg which today was number 19, a really good area for silvers. It was still in the bucket when my name was called out but I ended up on 26 towards the bottom end of the pegs along the

Summerhayes – Clive and Ray’s Memorial Match – 6th August 2022

I fished Clive Cunningham’s memorial match in 2021 and after sadly losing Ray Wickham, they decided to have a combined memorial match for this year. It started filling up quickly and in no time, there were 28 names down, a fantastic turn out and I was really looking forward to it, especially as it was silvers only. The Breakfast Club assembled at
