River Parrett – Mrs Williams Cup – 8th August 2021

It was back at Parrett Works for this one and Kirsty at The Ranch very kindly agreed to accommodate us at 6:00 for breakfast so it was yet another rude 5:00 alarm. Once we’d eaten it was across the road and we could now draw our own pegs again. There was another great turn out of 18 anglers. I was hoping to

Dillington Pond – Enterprise Angling Summer League 6 – 1st August 2021

Another early start and I must admit it was a struggle to get out of my pit (never realised catching 11oz could be so tiring!), I got to the bowling club just at Steve ‘The Pole’ turned up, he let me have my bait and there was a little present in there as well. I opened the box and it was a

Summerhayes – Clive Cunningham’s Memorial Match – 31st July 2021

I don’t fish many Saturday matches but when I saw it was Clive’s memorial match and silvers only on Sellicks, I thought I’d give it a go as I haven’t been to Summerhayes for a while. Rob also said he fancied it so I booked us in for breakfast at the Brewer’s Fayre in Taunton and it was very good once again.

River Parrett – Huntsman Cup – 25th July 2021

I’ve absolutely loved fishing the Stoke river matches at Parrett Works and Kingsbury, it’s not easy fishing by any means but it’s fascinating trying to work out how to catch the 4-5lb needed to do well. After some decent results, I really thought I was starting to get my head round it but I should have known better and in the last

Hebditch’s Pond – Charity Match – 21st July 2021

With a week booked off work, I always like to try a fish a mid-weeker but where to go? I did ask The Grand Wizard if he fancied a charity match at Hebditch’s and he said he did but the trouble was it was rather overgrown and needed some work doing and being quite short notice, it probably wouldn’t be a goer.

Dillington Pond – Enterprise Angling Summer League 5 – 18th July 2021

I missed the previous two matches but the last one fished a lot better with Baz weighing 13lb and Chris H in second place with 11lb, some smaller skimmers were also featuring in catches which is good to see. The breakfast club assembled at the bowling club and the food was as fantastic as always, along with the banter, it just gets

River Parrett – Novice Shield – 11th July 2021

For the second Stoke AA river match we were at Kingsbury and I was really looking forward to it although with a 7:00 draw time, breakfast (the best bite of the day!) was looking off the menu (excuse the pun). Thankfully The Grand Wizard came to the rescue and spoke to Kirsty from The Ranch and she very kindly agreed to open

Avalon Fisheries – 4th July 2021

I fished my first match at Avalon in December last year and had a really nice day catching two good bream, skimmers, roach, and a decent perch for 11lb 11oz plus two big carp which didn’t count. This one wasn’t a silvers only match but I really fancied fishing for the bream and skimmers again as good weights are often recorded. Awake

Leon Boots Co. Review

I was recently contacted by a very nice chap from Leon Boots Co after he was given the blog details from a mate of his, to ask if I wanted to review a pair of their Ultralight wellies. Of course I said yes and to be honest the offer came at quite an opportune time, I own a pair of Skee-Tex moon

The Sedges – 27th June 2021

For the latest Stoke match it was at The Sedges on the canal lake, the usual suspects assembled for another fantastic breakfast at the bowling club (Andy B was due to join us but decided to have a lie in!) before we headed off in convoy behind ‘Breaker, breaker, rubber duck Morgan’ who took us on a very scenic route to the
