Revels Fishery – Open – 9th August 2022

I do love my Tuesday trips to Revels, I just wish I could go every week but as retirement is a fair way off yet, I will have to keep praying for a lotto win. After a quick breakfast stop with Parker ‘The Pole’ we were on our way. I did think the hot weather might put a few off but there

River Parrett – Mrs Williams Cup – 7th August 2022

With Kingsbury very weedy, we were back at Parrett Works for this one and there was another good turnout including Chris Haines and his mate Nick Veale who were fishing their first Stoke match. Breakfast at the bowling club got us off to a great start (thanks Drew) before we headed to Martock for the draw. I had a mental wish list

Summerhayes – Clive and Ray’s Memorial Match – 6th August 2022

I fished Clive Cunningham’s memorial match in 2021 and after sadly losing Ray Wickham, they decided to have a combined memorial match for this year. It started filling up quickly and in no time, there were 28 names down, a fantastic turn out and I was really looking forward to it, especially as it was silvers only. The Breakfast Club assembled at

Revels Fishery – Open – 2nd August 2022

I had booked Wednesday off work to fish the next match at Hebditch’s for Ruthie’s Cup but it had to be postponed so I swapped my leave around so I could fish Revels and Parker ‘The Pole’ did the same. We met for breakfast in Yeovil before heading to the fishery, the Tuesday opens are always popular and there was a great

Summerhayes – Open – 31st July 2022

We were back on Sellicks for this one and it was almost a full house with 22 anglers booked in. Young Geoff was fishing again but thankfully after his bout of garlic poisoning last time, he’d left his special pellets behind. Pete got the draw underway and today’s golden peg was number 17 which is a decent silvers area. My name was

Ilminster Angling Association – The Dace Cup

The Dace Cup was presented to the club by Minsterstone Ltd and was for the biggest weight of dace in a match. In the early days the cup would be fished for in a designated match but in the later years it was the biggest weight of dace caught during the season. 1972-73 – J. Tovey (1lb 15oz) 1973-74 – T. Payne

River Parrett – Huntsman Cup – 24th July 2022

We were at Kingsbury for the third Stoke river match and with the weather forecast set to be a little more agreeable I was really looking forward to it. After another of Charlotte’s excellent brekkies we headed to Martock for the draw. There was a great turnout of 16 anglers and Bob let us know where all the pegs were and then

Ilminster Angling Association – The Club Cup

As I mentioned in the last post, I’m looking at the Club Cup and it’s winners first as I try to document IAA’s trophies and winners over the years. The Club Cup (or Annual Challenge Cup) was contested as far back as 1956 and the first winner was J. Mathrick, here’s the full list of winners on the trophy. 1956 – J.

Summerhayes – Open – 17th July 2022

Summerhayes was the destination for Sundays match which was on Longs. There was a great turn out of 21 anglers and Pete got the draw underway starting with the golden peg and the number 3 was plucked from the bucket. My name was midway down the list and I got peg 13 for the day, a decent area for silvers. Jacko ended
